Service Engineering ... Thats what I do now. More precisely, a kinda reverse engineering. Identifying the faulty component and replacing it with a new. Sound quiet easy huh ? But guys ... .this is the damn-est job u can find in electronic industry.
yesterday I received one specimen with a small note on it. "No ip" - it means its dead. Its not working. I started working with standard procedure.
AC mains circuit - Continuity tested, No shortage. Next AC Filter circuit - its little weird, I'll check it later... Next Bridge rectifier - No burns or smoke trace. IGBT and gate circuit - Nothing wrong. uC - tested. Buses and cables continuity tested.
After 1 hour I cant find anything wrong with this thing. I assembled and switched on... Nothing. I cant even find any smell of burned component. I was like ...grrr. ' whats wrong with this thing. I was sure fault will be in the High voltage section. After the bridge to the GATE. I took and Hold the PCB one hand and took the tester and touched it somewhere on the lids. @@## FLASH ##@@

"Hey wake up ... Dont u need lunch today ?? " My friend is calling me. 'What happened ! Where in a world ..... ' "Its not good to sleep in duty time. U'll get scolding" - He advised me and walked to the door. I was still in confusion. I looked watch and its 1 o'clock. I looked my table and I just started to realise what happened.
I touched a fully charged capacitor. Since its a capacitor and dont have any amps it cant do any physical damage to victim. U'll be just blacked out. The same principle is used in stun-guns.
Anyway that was a nice piece of experience.
